A MILLION FACES

I should have known life has more than two faces
The shadow who keeps i company wherever I go
And the image in the mirror to whom I confide
Reminds I of broken pieces of minds stuffed in I ear
Echoing commands that long to enslave i
Giving birth to dreams whose hands choke I in sleep
Escorted by thoughts that creep back and forth anchored to I heel
They but leave a stretch mark of pregnant scars screaming for justice

I sight burns of ash dust from I past walks
While I skin cracks of the cold that caresses I heart
I inhale the heat that comes with every new face
Yet I thorny lungs leave I with faces punctured

Wisdom I seek in the testament of times Old
Words whose faces are invisible to I mortal state
Must I but die to find the truth naked?
For faith is only tangible by men with no hands

I sing with I voice scratching the top of hills
I toe pacing at the altar of every passing moon
Faces known to I are foreign to I heart
While in the dessert the Jew offers flesh and blood
A stranger whose face fits in my face
I then sigh
For there is but one face in a million faces
