My life like leaves scattered
I cry of my ancestors battered
Yesterday's face covered in blood
I am asked to be strong
Yet my voice is choked by ideas wrong
My life like oceans and waves
With a government filled with potholes
Leaders shallow minded with no soul.
I caste the first vote but to the grave
And for thirty years and more
The change needed is the change denied
My life like drops of ice
Cleansing minds of men dirty
You paralyze me
I die today
But my voice lives on
I am no slave
I hatch eggs of freedom
My chicks roam the pearl.
