EIGHT THOUSAND MILES

Reader in joy did i receive mail
From thousands of miles
A mail with a touch that calmly sails
And turned miles into smiles

To quiet thoughts and silent hearts
A glass of comfort filled to the brim
As my conscience is kept alert
Watching carefully that the flame might not grow dim

Did i know what joy may would bring
For the stranger brought by the one once in a manger
Causes a heart from afar sing
Certain of a sign to flee lonely danger
